Drag queens seem to be everywhere these days...

Those unfortunate enough to get booted off Drag Race in the early stages, go back to where they come from and become minor celebrities in their local gay bar. However...some are [temporarily] reprieved from obscurity...thanks to All Stars, aka: The Second Chance Saloon.

Without that second chance, the world-at-large may never have gotten to know Trixie Mattel - now, one of the most recognisable drag queens out there, thanks to the magnificent make-up. And, it is an absolute pleasure to get to know her a little bit more.

Think of a [far] more refined Divine crossed with an autoharp-playing Dolly Parton...that's Trixie! She's a queen with a few more strings to her bow than most. Underneath that glorious make-up, there's Brian...he has a story to tell and refuses to dwell upon the bad times. Instead, he sings about them...obviously, in drag, the songs come over somewhat tongue-in-cheek. But, for sure, there is a credible Country singer in there...waiting to get out?!?

Mostly light-hearted [with a few dark notes], this is just a simple story of a drag queen who came from nowhere and made it big. It's a delight, it's as simple as that!

The(ir) Blurb...

Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts captures the momentous rise of RuPaul’s Drag Race breakout queen Trixie. As the charming drag persona of Milwaukee-raised Brian Firkus, Trixie does it all; headlining a live tour in Great Britain while filming Drag Race All Stars, managing personal projects, family issues, and recording a new album. An unexpected fallout with close friend and web series co-star Katya Zamolodchikova injects a bittersweet undercurrent to Trixie’s professional and personal success. Behind the scenes, Firkus reflects on the joys and challenges of being Trixie.

Director Nick Zeig-Owens artfully synthesize all of Trixie’s fabulous projects and conflicting feelings into a highly charged film experience. With humor and catharsis in each performance, Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts is a raw and deeply personal portrait of the pitfalls of success and the endless churn of being a professional performer.
